Clean Water

Pilot Project

Women in Banjar Tegal Payang, Pupuan Village near Ubud, must climb 400 metres up a steep hill to reach a spring, their only source of clean water. At the spring, they fill buckets and carry them on their heads back down the hill to their homes.

This pilot project (many more villages have difficult access to clean water) uses funds provided by Rotary Clubs and the labour of the villagers concerned.

The concept is very simple and the project contains three elements.

  • a gathering tank at the source of water, at the top of the hill.
  • a holding tank at the base, at the village.
  • a pipeline joining the two, with basic controls.
The simple project concept........ and the spring source of the clean drinking water

Cost of this pilot project, to supply all the people in the village, is just $1,500.  The project design and implementation oversight is by an architect member of our Club.

Future Water projects

Our Club will be working with many other villages to help ensure they have clean water.
