tsunami field reports

Reports from Rotarians and others who are or who have been in the tsunami affected areas of Indonesia. We will be adding to this list as more reports are received.

Below is a short overview of each report plus a link to the complete document in Adobe PDF or Microsoft Word format. By default these documents will open in a new window (you can choose to open or save) if your system supports the file format.

You can also choose to right click (apple-click) on the document icon and select "Save Target As". Please note that all of these documents were scanned with Norton AntiVirus 2005 before uploading.

Vitamin Day in Orphanage Citra

We arrived around 11.00 am local time, the children already waited for us, they sat nicely in the sofa. Most of the children who lived in that house are the tsunami victims who lost their mom and dad, they are all around five to 10 years old in age range. Some of them still have one or two family members like brothers or sisters left, but unluckily they are also not far from their age, practically they couldn't do much to look after their brothers and sisters.

Rotarians in Aceh

Aid in third world countries is tricky and riddled with corruption. I am pleased to say that I was satisfied with the procedures, checks and balances in place for District 3400 (which encompasses all of Indonesia) and that your donors will be very well-served by channeling their tsunami relief contributions through Rotary. Rebuilding will take a sustained effort, and Rotary is well-positioned and District 3400 is committed to seeing it all the way through.
